St. John the Evangelist – Anthony van Dyck

St. John the Evangelist offers insights into the life of Jesus that are not in the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke).  Not only does St. John include details not found elsewhere (e.g. 2 additional years of ministry, 8 miracles including the Wedding at Cana and the Raising of Lazarus), but St. John also offers a mature and ascendant reflection on the life of Jesus from someone who had spent many years after the Lord’s death moved by the Holy Spirit.
